The US Navy is reinstating a blockade against Iran, with President Donald Trump announcing the move on social media. The blockade, which begins on July 14, will be enforced by US Central Command and will target vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas.
The US Navy has a significant presence in the region, with over 20 ships operating in the Middle East. The USS Abraham Lincoln, USS George H.W. Bush, and USS Tripoli were recently pictured together in a show of force in the northern Arabian Sea.

Meanwhile, the USS Theodore Roosevelt is participating in the biennial exercise Rim of the Pacific, which is underway in the Pacific. The exercise involves a number of US and international ships, and will include the sinking of a decommissioned cruiser and amphibious warship.
