Ukraine's 40-day Forcing Russia to Peace campaign hit over 100 strategic Russian targets, disabling about 43 percent of Russia's refining capacity. The campaign, which ended on August 4, also cut grain exports by 37.6 percent.
According to Yuriy Svitlyk, the operation demonstrated real economic pressure on Russia but likely needs multiple cycles, combined with tough sanctions, to meaningfully shift Russia's calculus toward negotiations.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved continued, offensive operations to try to keep the momentum going, despite Russia intensifying strikes on Ukraine, especially in the capital region.
