Taiwan has started its annual Han Kuang exercise, a 10-day military drill aimed at testing commanders' ability to fight on the fly when enemy movements defy expectations. The drills will include combat-readiness moves such as fighter-jet dispersals and emergency naval deployments.
The exercise will also focus on a key wartime concern: China's potential attempt to paralyze Taiwan's command centers, ports, and defense industry sites. China has never renounced the use of force to bring Taiwan under its control.
The drills will mobilize over 20,000 reservists and introduce new mechanisms, such as an 'embedded reporter' system to assess wartime frontline news releases and counter enemy disinformation. The exercise is part of Taiwan's effort to make its drills more realistic and prepare for potential conflicts.
