International inspectors have discovered scores of previously hidden chemical weapons materials in Syria, including chemical munitions and production materials. The findings come as the country enters a fragile new phase marked by a shifting security landscape.
The discoveries were made by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and include thousands of pages documenting the deadly program under ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

The OPCW warned that the full extent of Syria's chemical weapons enterprise may remain unknown, with over 100 additional sites potentially linked to the program. This raises concerns about the potential for militant groups like the Islamic State to access these materials.
