Molfar Defence, a Polish-Ukrainian startup, is developing a new generation of tactical radar systems to detect small, low-altitude drones. The company aims to complement existing air-defense infrastructure, which struggles to identify smaller and slower-moving airborne threats.
The radar systems use advanced signal processing and multidimensional structural target representation to distinguish drones from other airborne objects. Molfar Defence recently secured a €2 million funding round, led by Sweden's Front Ventures, to finance its development work.
The company plans to begin mass production in late 2027 and is opening a Ukrainian branch to adapt its radar systems to combat conditions. This development comes as eastern flank states intensify investments into counter-drone measures due to incursions by Russian drones into NATO airspace.
