Adm. Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, visited the USS Abraham Lincoln on Saturday to address concerns over poor living conditions and low morale among sailors and Marines. The visit came after reports of food shortages, water issues, and mental health problems onboard.
The Lincoln has been deployed for nine months, with over 250 days at sea, and has participated in combat operations against Iran. Cooper's visit was part of a 10-day tour in the region, where he met with troops, commanders, and allies.
Cooper presented awards to some service members and thanked the crew for their service, saying the Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is a strong team with immense pride in their accomplishments. The Navy has announced plans to send additional counselors and social workers to support the crew.
