The House of Representatives voted to pass S.2, the Secure America Act, which allocates full funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through fiscal year 2029. The measure cleared the chamber on June 9, 2026, after Republican members overcame Democratic opposition.
Rep. Rick W. Allen (GA‑12) praised the vote, noting a year without any illegal alien releases at the border and a decline in violent crime in major cities, which he attributes to ICE and CBP efforts against criminal networks, drug trafficking, and terrorism. He criticized Democrats for what he called a lack of priority on public safety, and highlighted the bipartisan nature of agency funding despite partisan gridlock.
The approval follows an April 30 House resolution (S. Con. Res. 33) that set a budget framework for the agencies through 2029, paving the way for today’s full funding. With the legislation now on President Trump's desk, the agencies are positioned to continue operations without a funding gap, though final enactment depends on the executive signature.
