The US Navy's Task Force 59 has successfully rescued two US Army pilots using a drone boat after their helicopter gunship went down near the Strait of Hormuz.
The incident occurred on June 8, with the rescue taking place at 7:33 pm US Eastern Time. The two crew members from the US Army AH-64 Apache were recovered from the waters off the coast of Oman.
This marks the first time the US military has used a drone for a rescue mission at sea, according to US military officials. The rescue was supported by the US 5th Fleet's Task Force 59, which integrates uncrewed vehicles and AI into maritime operations.
