The UK government is considering intervening in the $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros Discovery by Paramount Skydance.
The acquisition was approved by the US Department of Justice in June without concessions. However, UK culture secretary Lisa Nandy has expressed concerns about the impact on media ownership and the need for a plurality of views in news.
If the takeover proceeds, it would create one of the world's largest media and entertainment groups, combining WBD's CNN, HBO, and Warner Bros movies with Paramount's assets, including CBS and Channel 5.
