T-Mobile is taking Broadcom to court over the company's refusal to support its VMware perpetual licenses. The telecom giant has tens of thousands of virtual machines using VMware software across over 303,000 CPU cores.
T-Mobile is in the process of migrating off VMware, but the process is proving to be time-consuming and technically challenging, with over 1,000 applications to transfer.
The lawsuit, filed in August 2025, asks the New York court to rule that Broadcom is contractually obligated to continue supporting T-Mobile's VMware licenses.
