Paramount has accused Netflix of running a campaign to influence stakeholders against its proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. In a letter to the US Department of Justice, Paramount's chief legal officer Makan Delrahim alleged that Netflix is trying to 'poison regulators' about the merger.
The accusation comes in response to a letter from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which argued that the merger would threaten film and TV workers. The union has asked the DOJ to block the merger unless safeguards are put in place to protect jobs.
Netflix has dismissed the claim as 'absurd'. The dispute highlights the intense competition in the streaming industry, with Paramount seeing Netflix as a major competitor.
