Midjourney, known for its AI image generator, has announced its first hardware product: The Midjourney Scanner. This full-body ultrasound scanner uses a ring of sensors to capture vertical slices of the body, analyzing muscle, fat, bone, and organs.
The scanner was developed in partnership with ultrasound tech company Butterfly Network and aims to provide image quality comparable to MRI machines. Midjourney CEO David Holz hopes to use the scanner to track changes in his body in response to diet and workout changes.

The scanning process takes about 60 seconds and starts with stepping onto a platform that drops down into the water, where thousands of transducers create ultrasonic waves to analyze the body. Midjourney plans to open a spa location in San Francisco with 10 of these scanners, offering body composition maps that don't require FDA clearance.
