Meta has removed facial recognition code from its smart glasses app, just one day after its discovery. The code, which was part of an unreleased face-recognition system, was embedded in an app installed on over 50 million phones.
The removal comes after WIRED revealed the existence of the code, which was internally referred to as NameTag.
Meta's vice president of communications, Andy Stone, stated that the feature is exploratory and no final decision has been made on its use.
