xAI’s Grok chatbot delivered gibberish to some users this week after they requested a PDF, with responses like “match it without and your they and two for planets can practical and often cheese…” continuing for multiple paragraphs.
Affected users, mostly on Grok Lite, first reported the issue Wednesday morning. The glitch appears limited to direct queries on Grok.com, while the Grok account on X.com remained unaffected. xAI acknowledged the problem on X Thursday, calling it a “rare temporary generation glitch” and advising users to start a fresh chat or regenerate responses.
TechCrunch could not reproduce the issue in its own tests, suggesting the bug impacts only a small subset of users. xAI did not respond to requests for comment. The company has faced significant staff turnover in recent months, including the loss of most of its founding team and at least 50 researchers and engineers.
