Google released two variants of its new Gemini 3.8 Flash model, including a standard version for agentic tasks and a cybersecurity-focused Flash Cyber. Sundar Pichai highlighted "significant leaps" over 3.7 Flash in software engineering and multi-step reasoning, noting superior performance on the DeepSWE coding benchmark at lower cost.
Flash Cyber, described as Google’s most capable cybersecurity model, achieved 86.2% on the CyberGym benchmark and 47.2% on CWE-Bench for patching tasks. It also discovered vulnerabilities across 20 programming languages with over 70% success in internal tests, outperforming larger models in Chrome security audits. The model is initially limited to trusted partners via Google’s Fairwind Program, with safeguards against misuse in sensitive domains.
3.8 Flash is available now in Gemini Enterprise and via the Gemini API, priced at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens. Users can adjust effort levels for quality, cost, or latency, while the standard model supports multimodal inputs up to 1M tokens. Google claims it outperformed peers in finance and legal benchmarks, and demonstrated creative tasks like building interactive 3D games and DOS-style maps.
