General Motors is investing $900 million in the development of new EV battery technology. The company is focusing on LMR batteries and has established a Battery Cell Development Center to bridge the gap between research and production. This initiative aims to reduce the cost of GM's next slate of EVs while maintaining their range.
The Chevrolet Silverado EV, for example, could become $6,000 cheaper. GM's VP of battery and sustainability, Kurt Kelty, provided details about the company's plans and the potential benefits of the new battery chemistry.

The development of this new technology is crucial for GM's future in the EV market, and the company is also exploring the use of AI to speed up its vehicle development cycle.
