Garmin has launched the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro, two new rugged smartwatches that upgrade the series with brighter displays and improved navigation. Both models feature an OLED screen capable of reaching 3,000 nits of brightness—double the output of the previous generation—and the base Fenix 9 starts at $999.99 for the 43mm case.
The upgrades extend beyond the display. The Fenix 9 includes 50% more RAM, a faster map engine for smoother panning, and 64GB of storage. New software features like Garmin Epic consolidate multi-day workout data, while expanded rucking metrics allow users to adjust pack weight mid-session. Battery life reaches up to 29 days in smartwatch mode on the largest 51mm model.

The Fenix 9 Pro adds a titanium case, satellite or LTE connectivity (for an extra $100 plus a $7.99 monthly fee), and a larger 1.5-inch OLED display on the top-tier 51mm variant. Solar-charged models in the 47mm and 51mm sizes promise up to 57 days of battery life with sufficient sunlight exposure. Preorders open August 28.
