A new study found that COVID-19 vaccines continue to protect against heart problems, particularly for those over 75 and with underlying medical conditions.
The study, which analyzed data from over 1 million patients in the US Department of Veterans Affairs health system, discovered that the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine lowered the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events.
The finding is significant as it shows that the vaccines' benefits hold up over time, despite the evolution of the virus and increased population-level immunity. The study's results were published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
