The Australian government has instructed thousands of volunteers to dispose of their test routers. The routers, provided by SamKnows, were used to measure broadband speeds as part of the Measuring Broadband Australia program.
The program, conducted by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, aimed to test and report on the typical speed and performance of broadband plans in Australia.
The routers are being discarded due to security concerns, as they could 'easily be reflashed' and potentially pose a risk. The decision comes after the program ran its course, and the routers are no longer needed.
