Apple is suing OpenAI, alleging the company stole its confidential data and trade secrets with the help of a former employee. The former employee, Chang Liu, allegedly exploited a rare authentication bug to download sensitive files after leaving Apple for OpenAI.
The bug, classified as a zero-day vulnerability, allowed Liu to access Apple's network and download dozens of confidential hardware-related files, including detailed information about unreleased products.
Apple has since fixed the bug and terminated Liu's access, but the incident highlights the challenges companies face in protecting sensitive data after employees leave. The case could begin this year and may raise questions about the security measures in place to prevent such breaches.
