Johann Zarco made his MotoGP comeback at the Aragon Grand Prix on Friday, crediting Pecco Bagnaia for his “humanity” after a May crash at Barcelona left him trapped in the gravel.
The Frenchman’s leg became stuck in Bagnaia’s Ducati during a first-lap tangle with Luca Marini at Turn 1 of the Catalan Grand Prix. Both Bagnaia and Marini rushed to assist Zarco while waiting for medical staff, a moment Zarco later called “humanity” in a video posted by LCR Honda. Despite severe injuries, Zarco avoided surgery and missed over 100 days of racing before returning.
Zarco’s first session back saw him finish as the top Honda rider in practice, though he admitted lingering muscle stiffness. He also faces a double long-lap penalty for the incident, handed down by FIM MotoGP stewards for his role in the crash.
