VR46 announced a three‑year extension with Ducati that will see the team continue as a factory‑supported satellite outfit in MotoGP's upcoming 850cc era. For the 2027 season the squad will run two Desmosedici GP machines – a factory‑spec bike that receives technical updates throughout the year and a standard‑spec, non‑factory bike.
The statement confirmed that Fabio di Giannantonio will be upgraded to the factory‑spec machine, while teammate Franco Morbidelli will use a year‑old bike. The move follows Ducati's decision to limit factory‑spec machinery to a single rider per satellite team. VR46 has not yet named its 2027 lineup, but the team is expected to field Fermin Aldeguer alongside WorldSBK star Nicolo Bulega, with Aldeguer likely receiving the factory‑spec bike. Meanwhile, Gresini will retain its factory‑spec entry for Alex Marquez and new signing Joan Mir after a strong 2026 campaign.

Team director Alessio Salucci praised the renewed partnership, and Ducati Corse GM Gigi Dall'Igna said the collaboration will continue through at least 2029, aiming to build on recent successes and pursue further podiums.
