Qatar is moving forward with plans to host Formula 1 and MotoGP events this year, according to the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation. The federation’s president, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Latif Al Mannai, confirmed that preparations are underway despite the fluid security situation in the region.
The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which flared up in February, has already forced F1 to relocate its Bahrain Grand Prix to Malaysia. Both F1’s Qatar race in late November and MotoGP’s postponed Qatar Grand Prix in early November remain on the provisional calendar, though final decisions are pending. The FIA World Endurance Championship canceled its Qatar rounds entirely earlier this year.
Al Mannai stated that while the situation is unpredictable, Qatar cannot halt preparations. The federation is monitoring developments closely but insists current plans are proceeding as scheduled.
