Cadillac’s historic first points finish in Formula 1 was erased after the Monaco Grand Prix when Sergio Perez received a 10‑second time penalty. The sanction moved him from provisional 10th place to 15th, promoting Aston Martin‑Honda’s Fernando Alonso into the points and giving the team its inaugural championship point.
The stewards ruled that Perez’s car was out of position at the late‑race standing restart, with video showing the front‑right wheel of car #11 outside the starting box. The penalty followed an earlier infringement in which Perez pulled into a vacant grid slot left by Gabriel Bortoleto’s Audi, earning a drive‑through that he served during the race. The reshuffle also saw Bortoleto climb to 11th, ahead of George Russell, Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto.
Perez remained upbeat, saying the team should be proud of the performance despite the setback. He described the Monaco effort as “one of the worst races I ever remember” but highlighted the team’s resilience and his confidence that future results will improve.
