After eight rounds in the 2026 Moto2 season, 23‑year‑old Manu Gonzalez has built a 49.5‑point lead, with four victories and only one finish off the podium. His latest triumph came at the Hungarian Grand Prix, following a crushing win at Mugello where he beat the field by more than five seconds. Those performances have kept his name in the conversation for a MotoGP seat in 2027, but the rider confirmed that negotiations with the Trackhouse Aprilia team have gone cold.
Earlier reports linked Gonzalez to a test with Trackhouse after he tried the Aprilia at Aragon last year, and rumors suggested a possible vacancy if Enea Bastianini exercises his release clause. However, the Spanish rider said he is "in the exact same position" as after Mugello, with no concrete offer on the table. Meanwhile, fellow Spaniards Dani Holgado and David Alonso have already secured moves to MotoGP, highlighting how nationality can influence team decisions.

With the MotoGP grid set to adopt 850 cc machines and a switch to Pirelli tyres, a rookie slot could still open for a rider of Gonzalez’s calibre. Until a team confirms a deal, the champion will have to wait and hope his dominant form translates into a top‑flight ride next year.
