A proposed move of the Monaco Formula E round to the first weekend of May – May 1‑2 – could eliminate the calendar clash with the World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Spa and keep champion Sebastien Buemi in the series. Under the current schedule, Buemi, who also drives for Toyota in the WEC, would have to miss up to four Formula E events to honor his endurance commitments.
The shift would also avoid a non‑sporting event slated for May 15‑16 in the Principality, while the Berlin E‑Prix remains slated for May 8‑9, preserving the back‑to‑back weekend format. Envision Racing’s managing director Sylvain Filippi has indicated the team would retain Buemi if only a single clash remains, potentially allowing him to skip one WEC round as he did in 2025.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds explained that any date change must be submitted to the FIA and approved by the World Motor Sport Council, with the next council meeting expected around September or October. He confirmed discussions are ongoing, though no decision is final yet. Nyck de Vries of Mahindra appears less affected by the scheduling issue.
