Charles Leclerc will adopt the brake‑disc configuration that Lewis Hamilton has been using, moving from Brembo to Carbone Industrie components for the Barcelona Grand Prix. The change aims to restore the braking confidence that slipped during his Monaco exit, where cold brakes contributed to a wall‑impact crash.
Leclerc said the lack of feel and inconsistent performance in recent races, especially on cold tyre temperatures, have been a "nightmare" for him. After the Monaco incident, he confirmed he will follow Hamilton's set‑up from the next race onward, hoping the new discs will give him a more reliable bite.

The switch retains the existing Brembo calipers but replaces the discs. Carbone Industrie units are reputed for a sharp initial bite and peak grip at higher temperatures, while Brembo discs provide a more progressive, temperature‑stable response. With 2026 hybrid power units reducing reliance on traditional braking forces, managing disc temperature has become a critical performance factor.
Ferrari has already been spotted fitting the new discs on Leclerc’s car, and the team will evaluate the impact in Barcelona, looking for improved brake modulation and overall pace.
