The trophy is part of an annual tradition since 2021, where a different Italian artist creates the Italian GP’s podium prize. Previous designs have ranged from sculptural to abstract, but vedovamazzei’s contribution leans into the idea of victory as something transient and communal. The artists drew from the ancient tradition of passing a celebratory cup, framing the trophy as both an individual achievement and a shared moment.
The design’s instability mirrors Formula 1’s competitive nature, they noted, emphasizing that every win is temporary and must be reclaimed. The trophy will make its debut at this weekend’s race, adding another unconventional piece to the Italian GP’s evolving collection.
