Lewis Hamilton topped the second practice session for the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix, posting a 1:13.026 lap that put him 0.111 seconds ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc and 0.168 seconds clear of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Ferrari duo’s one‑two gave the team a clear edge heading into qualifying, while Mercedes’ George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli filled the fourth and fifth spots respectively.
The session was marred for McLaren when Lando Norris pulled into the runoff at the Nouvelle Chicane after about 15 minutes, apparently due to a battery fault, and did not set a time. His teammate Oscar Piastri managed a sixth‑place lap, just a thousandth of a second slower than Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar, who recovered from a crash in FP1 to finish sixth. Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto completed the top ten, followed by Haas rookie Oliver Bearman.
Ferrari’s dominance in FP2 suggests they will be strong contenders for pole, but the narrow margins to Red Bull mean the battle could tighten in qualifying. McLaren will need to resolve the reliability issue before the race, while the late red‑flag caused by Sergio Perez’s smoking brake adds another variable for teams to manage.
