FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Formula 1 counterpart Stefano Domenicali are pushing for F1 cars to return to naturally aspirated V8s by 2031 or 2030.
The move is part of a broader effort to adopt advanced sustainable fuels and modest electrification, aiming for a lower-cost and lower-complexity formula.
The proposed change could significantly impact the sport, with power unit manufacturers largely in agreement on the new direction.
