MotoGP has promoted Carlos Ezpeleta to Deputy CEO, working alongside his father Carmelo, who remains CEO. The move underscores Liberty Media’s confidence in the Ezpeleta family’s leadership as the sport expands globally.
Carlos Ezpeleta, previously chief commercial officer, has spent years climbing MotoGP’s management ladder. His new role comes as Liberty Media, which acquired MotoGP Group in 2024 for €4.2 billion, seeks to grow the series further. Carmelo Ezpeleta has led the organization through crises like the 2008 financial downturn and the COVID pandemic.

Both father and son highlighted the sport’s momentum and future potential. Liberty Media’s CEO Derek Chang emphasized Carlos’s experience and vision as key to MotoGP’s next phase. The company has not yet named Carlos’s replacement as chief sporting officer.
