The BUDDS Motorsport Icons auction, scheduled for July 7 at the Silverstone Museum right after the British Grand Prix, will list an authentic Ayrton Senna Formula 1 helmet from the 1992 season. The helmet, which Senna wore at the British, German and Hungarian Grands Prix, is now available for collectors and fans to bid on.
During the 1992 campaign Senna captured his third victory of the year in Hungary with this very helmet, and it also sat on his head for the historic German Grand Prix where he shared the podium with Alain Prost and a young Michael Schumacher – the only time those three ever stood together on a step. The shell bears stone‑chip marks that match period race footage, while the interior still shows the production label “Production No A / MAR 1992 / Inspector: H Takayama” and the original Snell SA90 serial number SA 0025979. A McLaren Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the piece.

The auction will also feature other rare race‑wear, car components and memorabilia from legends such as Senna and Nigel Mansell. Bidding opens now, and the sale offers a rare chance to own a piece of F1 history directly linked to one of the sport’s greatest drivers.
