Eduardo ‘Dudu’ Barrichello criticized a late-race drive-through penalty issued to co-driver Tom Gamble during Sunday’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway. The penalty came after contact between the Heart of Racing #27 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo and another car while battling for the GTD class lead with six minutes remaining in the race.
Barrichello called the penalty “a bit too harsh,” arguing that the penalty cost the team a potential victory in the GT-only event. The incident occurred during a tight duel for the top spot in the GTD class, leaving the Heart of Racing squad frustrated with the outcome.
The team now faces a setback in their championship campaign, with the penalty serving as a key talking point in post-race discussions.
