The USS Minnesota, a Virginia-class submarine, has completed its first deployment as the Navy's first forward-deployed boat of its class. During its deployment, the Minnesota participated in several exercises, including Valiant Shield 2026, a multinational field training exercise, and Exercise Lungfish, a bilateral tracking drill with the Royal Australian Navy. The submarine also made port visits to Japan and Australia, demonstrating its flexibility and readiness.
The deployment was a significant milestone for the Minnesota's crew, with 20 enlisted sailors and two officers earning their submarine warfare insignia.
