A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that just one in three Americans support the war on Iran, the lowest reading since the conflict began. Most respondents stated that President Donald Trump has failed to explain his goals for the war.
The poll, conducted Friday through Sunday, showed Trump's approval rating at 37%, up 3 points from last month. However, 69% of Americans think Trump has not clearly explained the goals of US military involvement in Iran.
The war has resulted in the deaths of 18 American soldiers and thousands in Iran and Lebanon, and has pushed gasoline prices sharply higher. The lack of public support for the war may impact the upcoming midterm elections, with independent voters favoring Democratic congressional candidates over Republicans.
