The US Marines have successfully test-fired their new Medium-Range Intercept Capability system, marking a significant leap in operational capability.
The system was tested during Exercise Valiant Shield on June 30, 2026, at Camp Blaz, where Marines used the MRIC to intercept an aerial target.
The MRIC bridges the gap between the shoulder-fired Stinger and the long-range Patriot missile system, providing an air defense umbrella that can move with Marine forces. It can down targets from two to 43 miles away and is designed for expeditionary operations.
