The US has agreed to lift its two-month blockade of the Strait of Hormuz after reaching a peace deal with Iran. President Donald Trump announced the move, authorizing the immediate removal of the US Naval blockade.
The agreement comes after a breakdown of a previous ceasefire in April and intense fighting between the two sides. The US suffered heavy casualties, with over 400 troops wounded and 13 killed.
The new ceasefire includes a 60-day negotiation period for a final peace agreement and will be signed in Switzerland on June 19. Both sides have declared the immediate termination of military operations on all fronts.
