A Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber crashed on Monday in Siberia’s Irkutsk region during a training flight.
The aircraft, which can carry hypersonic missiles, was flying without a combat load when it crashed, producing a huge column of smoke in a thickly wooded area.
The crew of four safely ejected, with all members taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary information suggests engine failure as the likely cause of the crash.
