Poland has partnered with Spain to purchase four Airbus A330 MRTT tanker aircraft, doubling its initial order of two. The agreement allows Spain to share its delivery slots with Poland, enabling Warsaw to receive the planes by 2030.
The deal is part of the European Union's Security Action for Europe scheme, which provides low-cost loans to member states to bolster their defense capabilities. Poland is set to receive the largest share of the funds, around €43.7 billion.
The purchase is a significant development in Poland's efforts to modernize its air force, and comes as the country considers buying up to 32 new fighter jets, with options including the F-35, F-15EX, and Eurofighter Typhoon.
