The Department of Defense has launched a counter-unmanned aerial system marketplace to connect government agencies with companies developing counter-drone technology. The platform, developed by the Joint Interagency Task Force 401, allows buyers to browse and filter products based on specific tactical needs and evaluate system performance data.
The marketplace is designed to streamline the acquisition of drone-related technology and is part of the Defense Department's effort to address the growing threat of drones. According to Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, the director of JIATF 401, the proliferation of small drones requires the department to move faster in this space.
Access to the marketplace is limited to approved buyers and sellers, who must undergo a vetting process to verify their businesses and evaluate their products. The platform is the Defense Department's second sales platform, following the launch of the Blue UAS List in 2020.
