Finnish defense company Patria and Ukrainian drone maker General Cherry signed a letter of intent to jointly develop drones and begin production in Finland. The collaboration leverages General Cherry’s battlefield-tested drone designs and Patria’s unmanned-system expertise to meet Western European defense needs.
The partnership reflects a broader push across Europe to integrate Ukrainian drone technology into local defense industries. Similar initiatives are underway in Germany and the United Kingdom, where Ukrainian UAV manufacturers are establishing production or partnership agreements.
Patria plans to start drone manufacturing in Finland, aiming to strengthen Europe’s defense capacity and reinforce its role as an innovator in unmanned systems. The company did not specify whether it would produce existing General Cherry models or outline a timeline for Finnish production.
