North Korea's newest warship, the Kang Kon, has an unexpected feature: the ability to deliver a modern broadside, albeit with machine guns rather than larger naval guns. The vessel's various weapon systems were recently shown off to the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.
The Kang Kon is one of two Choi-Hyun class warships built to date, with two more reportedly under construction. The ship is very heavily armed for its size, with at least 12 KPV-series machine guns firing from the port side.

The array of machine guns on Kang Kon looks like almost comical overkill, especially if there are an equal number of them mounted on the opposite side of the ship. The ship is set to be commissioned into service within the next two months, raising questions about its actual combat capability and broad utility.
