Nine European countries have joined Ukraine in a coalition to speed up production of the Freyja interceptor system, with the goal of getting it operational within a year. The initiative was launched in response to a global shortage of anti-ballistic interceptors.
The coalition, which includes Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, aims to build a shared antiballistic missile capacity for Europe.
Ukraine will head the project, supplying the interceptor, while partners will provide the necessary radar, tracking, and command-and-control systems. The coalition's current priorities include establishing common operational requirements and joint technical working groups.
