Indonesia has cancelled its plans to domestically produce the KF-21 fighter jet, a decade-long project with South Korea. The decision comes after a series of delays and disputes over cost-sharing arrangements.
The KF-21 Boramae is a twin-engine fighter designed to replace South Korea's aging F-4 and F-5 fleets. Indonesia had initially agreed to cover 20% of the development cost but later reduced its contribution to 600 million won.
Officials say the decision is largely practical and financial, with Indonesia now considering purchasing ready-made jets. The country is weighing the purchase of 24 additional French Dassault Rafale jets or 48 KAAN stealth jets from Turkish Aerospace Industries.
