The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has disputed DOGE's claim of $1.76 billion in savings from terminating a Defense Health Agency information technology contract. The GAO found that the contract was never terminated and no work was removed.
The contract, which provided IT services to over 700 military treatment facilities worldwide, was one of six awards made by the Defense Health Agency in 2023. Despite discussions between DHA officials and DOGE, the contract remains active.
The GAO's review also found broader discrepancies in DOGE's contract-savings reporting, with 2,503 contracts having no termination action recorded in federal procurement data. The GAO concluded that no savings were achieved on the contract, and the $1.76 billion claim remains on DOGE's Wall of Receipts.
