The Army has temporarily halted all Apache helicopter training flights after a crash at Fort Hood killed two soldiers. The stand-down will remain in effect until the root cause of the accident is understood.
The crash occurred during a maintenance test flight of an AH-64E Apache from the 1st Cavalry Division. The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center is investigating the cause of the crash, which killed Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead.
The incident is the latest in a series of military aviation mishaps in the United States over the last four months, involving aircraft from across the military and resulting in some fatalities.
