The US Army has created a new kind of formation, the 7th Infantry Division Multi-Domain Command – Pacific. This new command merges the 1st Multi-Domain Task Force with the 7th Infantry Division, putting roughly 12,000 soldiers under its leadership.
The move is part of the Army's transformation initiative, focusing on modern warfare tactics involving cyber and electronic warfare, as well as the use of drones.
The new command will operate as a self-contained unit, combining reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance missions with electronic and cyber attacks to provide a path for the main joint force.
